5 Plant-Based Satay Recipes
Chicken Satay served with peanut sauce is a wonderful Malaysian street food option. It's got the wonderful mix of a smoky grilled and sweet flavor. Below I've accumulated a shortlist of some vegan satay recipes that I would like to eventually try!
1) Vegan Satay with Spicy Peanut Sauce by Hanne
What I like about Hanne's recipe is that she includes steps to creating her seitan, which is her protein of choice. However, she also writes the recipe in a way that allows for someone to still follow along if they use store-bought seitan. What's also intriguing about her recipe is that she adds a little spicy kick into the peanut sauce!

2) Vegan Black Bean Satay With Peanut Sauce by Lauren Hartmann and Rabbit and Wolves
This recipe tries to mimic the beef satays by using black beans as their main protein. Curious about how this would work, I clicked onto their recipe and was astonished to find such a simple and easy procedure. Their ingredients can be easily found in most places and there isn't a long list of items either.

3) Peanut and Lemongrass Tempeh Satay by Minimalist Baker
Their recipe is based on a Thai version of satays. They've got the lemongrass' unique flavor added into the mix which sounds delicious. On top of that, this recipe uses my favorite protein alternative which is tempeh. However, the prep time takes a day so this recipe does require planning.

4) Tofu Satay with Peanut Sauce By Alissa Saenz
Once again, this is a recipe that enhances the wonderful flavors of lemongrass. Saenz uses shredded lemongrass to marinate the tofu adding a little bit of texture. Also, tofu is a great accessible vegan protein for everyone.

5) Vegan Jackfruit Satay Skewers By Davina Da Vegan
Jackfruit is the perfect substitute for chicken because it provides a somewhat similar texture. There is a warning that this does take some prep time/time in general to make, but Davina does offer a different style of vegan satay by using jackfruit.
